I have served as the Commission liaison for the Sheriff's Office for three years. In that role, I have always supported the Sheriff's executive staff in addressing their needs. Most recently, the Commissioners funded a county-wide compensation study. We were able to implement the recommended adjustments, including $3.5 million for public safety, without a tax increase. We also adopted a new sworn pay plan, separate from other county employees, that can be adjusted independently as the public safety market fluctuates. ​I'm really proud that we accomplished this without impacting taxpayers.
